Vedic Compatibility Analysis

Kundali matching for marriage — with the full Ashta Koota picture, not just a number.

A compatibility score tells you where two charts stand. It does not tell you whether the relationship will thrive — that depends on more. We give you the full Guna Milan breakdown and the context to understand what the numbers actually mean.

What Guna Milan can and cannot tell you

People search for Kundali matching for marriage when the emotional stakes are already high. That is understandable. The Ashta Koota system — eight matching categories covering temperament, vitality, psychological compatibility, attraction, health patterns, and long-term harmony — has guided marriage decisions in India for centuries. It is a robust system. And it is also one part of a larger picture.

Use the matching tool below for the core score and breakdown. If the result opens more questions than it answers, pair it with each person's individual Kundali or book a dedicated Consultation.

The Eight Categories of Ashta Koota Matching

Varna & Vashya

Varna indicates basic spiritual and temperamental compatibility. Vashya examines the mutual pull and control dynamic between the two individuals — essentially, how naturally they gravitate toward and influence each other.

Tara & Yoni

Tara looks at destiny flow and the role of fate in the relationship's journey. Yoni examines physical and intimate compatibility — a layer that speaks to closeness and attraction that goes beyond surface personality.

Graha Maitri (Planetary Friendship)

Graha Maitri assesses the friendship between the Moon sign lords of both individuals. It speaks directly to psychological ease, natural friendship, and the quality of day-to-day emotional companionship in the relationship.

Gana & Bhakoot

Gana looks at temperamental classification — whether both individuals share a Deva (divine), Manava (human), or Rakshasa (intense) nature. Bhakoot examines the inter-chart Moon house relationship and its long-term effect on prosperity and family.

Nadi Koota

Nadi carries the highest weight in the Ashta Koota system because it speaks to the deepest biological and karmic compatibility patterns. If both individuals share the same Nadi, this Dosha traditionally calls for expert interpretation before concluding anything — not automatic rejection.

Deep Dive into Ashta Koota & Relationship Doshas

Vedic matchmaking (Guna Milan) is built on the Ashta Koota system, which evaluates 8 distinct parameters (Kootas) based on the Moon's placement at birth. The total maximum score is 36 points (Gunas), with 18 being the threshold for compatibility.

The 8 Kootas Point Weights

Each Koota carries a specific point weight: 1. Varna (1 point: spiritual/ego profile), 2. Vashya (2 points: mutual influence/attraction), 3. Tara (3 points: health and compatibility of life-paths), 4. Yoni (4 points: intimate harmony and animal-instinct matching), 5. Graha Maitri (5 points: natural friendship of Rashi lords), 6. Gana (6 points: temperament match — Deva/Divine, Manushya/Human, Rakshasa/Intense), 7. Bhakoot (7 points: relative house distance of Moons, measuring financial and family alignment), 8. Nadi (8 points: physiological and genetic matching).

Manglik Dosha (Kuja Dosha)

Manglik Dosha occurs when Mars is placed in the 1st, 2nd, 4th, 7th, 8th, or 12th house of a birth chart. Because Mars represents drive, passion, and fire, these placements can create friction in marital houses. However, a 'Manglik' chart is not a curse. There are numerous traditional exceptions: if both partners are Manglik, the energy balances out. Furthermore, if Mars is in its own sign or exalted, or strongly aspected by Jupiter, the Dosha is considered cancelled (Kuja Dosha Bhanga).

Nadi Dosha Cancellation Rules

Nadi is the single most important Koota, carrying 8 points. It measures the fundamental humor (Vata, Pitta, Kapha) of the individuals. If both share the same Nadi, it causes Nadi Dosha, indicating potential health or childbirth complications. However, Nadi Dosha does not apply if: 1. Both partners have different Nakshatras but the same Moon sign, 2. Both share the same Nakshatra but have different Moon signs, or 3. They share certain benevolent Nakshatras (like Rohini, Arudra, Jyeshtha, Purva Bhadrapada) where the Dosha is naturally neutralized.
